On Tuesday 5 May the Clinpath EA Bargaining Committee held its second meeting. HSU representatives provided further detail their log of claims for a proposed 2-year agreement, including:

  • Two 3.5% annual wage increases (December 2015/2016)
  • Improved consultation and dispute handling processes
  • The ability to accumulate long-service leave entitlements subsequent to the first 10 years
  • The ability to accumulate annual leave up to 8-weeks
  • Phlebotomists: a $10 per episode bone marrow allowance and an $8 per day allowance for new employee training
  • Union Representative Rights – Union noticeboards, access to new staff at inductions and recognition of the role of union delegates

Clinpath put forward a number of items that they may want to negotiate on, including:

  • A reduction in Sunday penalty loadings from 100% to 75% or 50%
  • Changes to evening and night shift penalties where the current 15% loading only applies to shifts that finish at 2AM, rather than midnight.
  • Change wording around the 5th week of annual leave so that it only will apply to ‘an employee who is regularly rostered to work Sundays and public holidays’ (currently the wording is ‘more than four ordinary hours on 10 or more weekends’)
  • Increment increases for part time and casual staff: the proposal is that progression is based on 1824 hours (average of 35 hours per week) or the expiry of 2 years (currently average of 30 hours per week)

HSU representatives will be surveying members on Clinpath’s proposals. Members can obtain surveys from one of the following representatives.

  • Ric Iannella
